Chosen Solution Hello all, i hope you can help. I have an iPad 3 Wi-Fi/AT&T that will not fully boot into the OS. It boots to the Apple logo than straight to black screen. I’ve tried resetting (home +lock/power) a few times, let the battery drain as far as i can tell, let it charge still nothing. Anyone have any ideas? Plug it into a computer and open up iTunes. Hopefully it does not say it has detected an iPad in recovery mode....

Suggests locate app that uses same. @suzzetteg, Suzzette, A lot of forums recommend a factory reset when you run into issues as you are having, sometimes software, Apps, etc. can become corrupt and cause problems with devices. The link below will give instructions on how to perform hard/factory reset. Doing this will delete all existing data, so you will want to save import info o another device, SD card, etc....

My dog chewed USB end off. pdhaggerty besides the excellent answer provided by @j0vian you could follow this guide Apple USB SuperDrive Optical Drive Replacement up to step 7. There you see the wiring for the USB cable. Now you can check a replacement cable and see if the colors of the wires matches, than just solder the cable on. Or you can can check the wiring with a multimeter to match the connections....
