Chosen Solution
I’m trying to replace the digitizer on an ipad 2 but it is difficult to avoid dust getting between the digitizer and the lcd. Does anyone have a solution to this?
Try using dust wipes to clean your work area. The cleaner the area the better. If your walls or ceiling are dusty clean them or paint them. Floors can also be a problem as well, have a hard floor (no carpet) in the work area. And if you have concrete think about sealing it with paint, or other hard floor covering. If your heating system is blowing air add an air filter (and make sure it’s clean) and clean the ductworks. In addition add a humidifier to the heating system. If your heating system is radiant (any type) get a heating (warm) type of humidifier for the room/s as it puts out less dust Vs an ultrasonic type. Humid air carries less dust and static charge from dry air will collect dust, the more humid the less static and dust. An Ion type of air cleaner can also help. The less movement of air also makes a difference. Try to limit the air flow in the area. If you are a smoker or have dandruff you could be the source! Don’t smoke in the area and wear a face mask (your breath will have smoke particles). In the case of dandruff wear a surgeons cap to cover your head. Wearing a Tyvek coat can control any dust or lint you may have on what you are wearing. Use lint free wipes to wipe the glass surfaces. Good Luck!
The best answer to this i have heard of is to do this part in a bathroom if you have the counter space to work. First, run streaming water and steam the room up real good. Then let it settle for half an hour, the steam creates enough humidity that any particles will drop to the floor from the weight of the moisture accumulating on them. Waiting about half hour lets the stuff settle and the Humidity & heat drop enough so you don’t get any moisture in your device, but, you will for sure have a much more sterile as dust free as you can get without actually having a clean room. The post I read, the guy, first took his air compressor in the bathroom after doing a through sweep & vacuum and used a blow tool to blast air and remove anything the other missed. He had a fan in the doorway on high to help blow the dust out of the room. Then vacuum once more, then steam it. It’s alot to do but, if you have a job that you needs to be done to keep dust off of your parts, this is a good option.
You may notice some torn foam tape around the LCD. That’s the dust gasket. You have to replace them before putting the front panel back or dust will keep entering the display.
use can air to blow the dust off of the lcd make sure to hold the can upright and not to shake it while using it or it will cause moisture to form
