My iPhone X wasn’t charging, so I assumed the battery was dead and replaced it. After installing the battery, I realised that it did not fix the issue. The phone did bot up as normal after some time on the charger, but it continuously showed the battery to be empty. I then uninstalled the battery altogether and tried booting up the iPhone on the charger alone. It again booted up after a short period of time and showed an empty battery. The phone doesn´t seem to care, whether a battery is installed or not. It just doesn’t detect it. Does anyone know, what the cause of this could be? It surely has to have something to do with the logic board. I wouldn’t shy away from attempting a repair on that, I do have some experience dealing with small PCBs from my other hobby. It´s just that I have nothing to go off of, really. I couldn’t find actual information on how to further diagnose this issue. I would really appreciate a little guidance!
Sounds like a charging ic issue. Chip SN2501. Replacing should sort it. Good luck.
