simply put I have one of these old edu model imacs I want to upgrade to refurbish it, since if I’m going in I might as well go all in. will the 21.5” motherboard fit? I’m aware the io won’t exactly line up but I’m not too afraid of that much.
You are limited to one of these iMac9,1 logic boards. Apple transitioned to a larger display which uses an LED backlight in the Late 2009 systems iMac10,1 which is why you can’t go higher. Apple has moved on to more powerful processors i series over the Core 2 Duo and the OS and apps have also moved forward as well, so unless you have no need to upgrade your OS or apps this might be a dead end endeavor!
