Hey guys, I recently found out that with a special adaptor, I can upgrade the SSD on the MBP 13’“ no touchbar A1708. I ordered the adaptor and since I am opening it up I wanted to know if the ram is soldered on as well. I cannot seem to find a concrete answer on this because it always leads me to the 2017 WITH touchbar. I know that on the touchbar model everything is soldered on, does anyone know for sure if the ram is soldered on for the NON touchbar 2017 model? Thanks Update (06/18/2020) In case you were wondering, here is the adaptor I purchased to upgrade the SSD: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/NVMe-M-2-NGFF-SS

The RAM is soldered! What you bought with the system is all you’ll get! ;-{ Be careful with this M.2 adapter. As these have just come onto the market for this series there is no track record on them yet. The older retina series (2015 and older) also had these adapters. Many where just junk! Part of the problem is the folks that create these don’t always understand what Apple is expecting and assume just any M.2 SSD will work, and lastly the quality control or warranty is just not there!

No the ram is attached to the logic board and cannot be replaced.

You can upgrade the ram up to 16GB ram. If you don’t know how to micro solder, you will need to hire someone to do it for you. https://youtu.be/jKLWdorkmKg I purchased these M.2 adapters on amazon and they work great! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BCQJMJZ/ref… Hope this helps!
