Hi, I have a Pioneer vsx 922 Home AV amp. Its has worked great, till the other day when the speech on a film was not working. I investigated and found the centre speaker was outputting very quiet. i turned up the volume, and the only noise coming from it was like a crackle (like a blown speaker). I have changed the speaker, and also tested the centre speaker on other outputs, and deduced that it is the output from the amp, not any ancillary . i removed power, reset the unit, and tried again with no inputs, just did the MCACC test, and the tones sounded the same. I have spoken to the repair shop who said it may be the input board, but I’m not convinced as there is no inputs and still the same. I am very disappointed as i brought this unit just under 3 years ago and it is rarely used, maybe a few times a month for PS4 or a film, but not daily as others have. really thought it would have lasted longer. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be the issue?

Dave, take your unit apart and post some images with your question. Use this guide for that. It is possible that either your relay or one of the center output transistor may have failed. Reason for the images is to properly identify the parts and to see if there is anything obvious.
