I’ve bought this computer in 2016 as a refurbished device from eBay, today it made a popping sound and won’t turn on and I smelled the bottom case and it smells like burning circuit smell. Help! I had data on that machine!
You’ll need to take the bottom cover off to at least inspect the logic board hopefully you can see damage. Most of the time i end up removing the logic board as I need to check the other side as well for damage MacBook Air 13" Early 2014 Logic Board Replacement If you need the data on your drive the best thing here is get a PCIe to USB case to put your custom SSD into so you can access it from another Mac. I found a short on one of the capacitors and when I plug it in, I found that a chip was very hot! Almost burned me, what I did was remove it and I was shocked to see it work again, when I plugged it in, the fan started spinning and it booted to the OS. Thank you for your help!
