My home button on my iPhone 7 plus is cracked and I can no longer use it! How can I get this repaired? I am using the accessibility home screen button but would like to get the button fixed
TouchID will only work with the original home button. A replacement home button for the 4.7" iPhone 7 is already available on iFixit [linked product missing or disabled: IF332-002-1] Follow these instructions for replacement: iPhone 7 Plus Home/Touch ID Sensor Replacement However, as the phone is almost brand new I would ask Apple how much they quote for a replacement. Do not replace the home button. The new button is ABSOLUTELY USELESS. Go to Apple for repair.
I just had the exact same issue with a phone that was less than 30 days old. The phone was never dropped or damaged and had no issue besides the cracked home button. The first sign was that the touch id was not available and when I tried to push the home button to load to the home screen, the button literally cracked. I sent it to Apple only to be told that it was damage/misuse and not covered under warranty and would cost me approximately $319 (the out-of-warranty) fee for a repair!! Never buying an Iphone again…I’ll stick with Samsung!
Hi the iPhone 7 / Plus you can swap buttons only if you have original button to swap out the ic chip on the flex cable attached to home button and you buy original home button as a replacement take the ic chip off solder the one from the original cable on to you new home button and bobs your uncle if you have thrown your old home button away apple it is for you but not for a cracked home button or torn flex cable swap ic chip good as gold again I did this with a ten pound solder iron and ome part and works fine take care in removing chip of the original it has a glue substance so remover first to heating it up use flux to separate from flex and pick it off carefully and if you do this clean I just pooped mine right on top when it cooled dawn got it perfectly lined up and turned on solder iron and wait ten and turn off heat let it sit for two mins and remove cool dawn ten mins pop on phone done if correct all done

I care service center says need to replace touch screen with home button and it will cost 20.000 rupees But I don’t trust the way staff ask the question

Will the home button work if you put the original ic on the flex cable, to a new button? Update (08/15/2017) can the home button work if you replace the ic of the original flex, to the new button?
If you’ve completely ruined your iphone 7 or 8 home button, and don’t want to pay apple to fix your stuff (because you’re a stubborn repair enthusiast like me), I believe you can find various replacement home buttons that function via bluetooth. The touch ID does not work, but at least you don’t have to use the little square. Seems this issue has been thoroughly answered, but I just wanted to add that in as an alternative answer to those of you who do not want to pay the $150 home button repair.
